Conclusion: What's wrong with Bill Gates?

Blogging about water and sanitation situations across Africa opened up my eyes to deeper understanding of urgent conditions and innovations that come with the basic necessities that we often take for granted. In particular, water and sanitation circumstances in Africa, though not always implemented with the Western approach in their solutions, might benefit better from tailored and novel methods by locals that truly understand what is needed to tackle the situation.

I wanted to tie up my blog with a video from one of my favourite comedians, Ronnie Chieng, who sat down with Bill Gates to understand his work and rationale for improving sanitation, particularly that of with toilets. Underneath the light-hearted and humorous tone of the video, it presents to viewers the understanding that flush systems may not be the most sustainable option for our future. Gates, as with others as discussed in my previous posts, believes that human excreta have a lot more usefulness than just being flushed down the cistern, including being converted to fertilizer, potable water, and energy, which has Chieng playfully stating that Gates has "found a backdoor into the most profitable industry in the world" with poop. Gates is offering millions of his fortune, or "flushing his fortune down the toilet" for a viable, sustainable innovation to deal with poop, cementing the notion that a different, world-saving, way of using human excreta is possible.

That being said, thank you for reading my blog, and if you have an idea for Mr Gates, go for it!
